Ages 2-4 years

At this tiny age, children are still exploring this massive world around them. Putting them into water, can be such a fun and exciting experience for them. Those arms & legs flying everywhere, splashes and bubbles. We work closely with our preschoolers to keep encouraging those fun aspects of exploring the world of water, but also build up their confidence and grow their strength and abilities. Please see below some of the skills we teach, to work towards some brilliant awards!

Duckling 1

🫧 Make a safe entry, teacher support if needed

🫧 Float on back with teacher support behind head no floatation equipment

🫧 Blow bubbles on water surface

🫧 Wet head from above without submersion

🫧 Kick 5 metres on back, with teacher support

🫧 Travel without adult support for 2 metres to a floating object.

🫧 Enter pool, rotate & return to side with teacher support.

🫧 Exit water safely, teacher support if needed

Duckling 2

🫧 Make a sitting entry, teacher support if needed
🫧 Rotate 180 degrees, using log roll or upright position, using floatation equipment, NO teacher support
🫧 Submerge the face with confidence and no force
🫧 Blow an object for 2 metres
🫧 Travel 3 metres using arms and/or legs NO teacher support
🫧 Move 5 metres along the rail or wall NO teacher support
🫧 Enter the pool, rotate & return to side with little teacher support
🫧 Exit water safely, little teacher support if needed

Duckling 3

🫧 Make a supervised jump to a teacher, support if needed
🫧 Float on front or back NO teacher support
🫧 Push off from supporting teacher on front or back in streamline
🫧 Blow bubbles with nose & mouth underwater
🫧 Travel 5 metres on front to the side, NO teacher support
🫧 Kick 5 metres on front holding a float (teacher may support other end of float)

🫧 Enter the pool, rotate & return to side, NO teacher support
🫧 Climb out of the water with teacher support if needed

Duckling 4

🫧 Jump into water unaided
🫧 Perform a mushroom or star float.
🫧 Rotate 360 degrees using a log roll or an upright position.
🫧 Push and glide using streamline position on front or back
🫧 Submerge completely
🫧 Travel 10 metres on front or back, NO teacher support
🫧 Jump into water, turn around, swim back to the point of entry & hold on to the side
🫧 Climb out of the water NO teacher support

I CAN Awards are perfect for toddlers & pre-school aged children.

They recognise achievement of specific single successes, and can be awarded at any time

The 'I Can' Awards are a brilliant way to motivate those who may struggle with certain aspects in their swimming, or just feeling a little stuck.
